Fundraising

Raising money for Send a Cow should be fun! Have a look through our resources, including schools fundraising ideas, Read to Feed and more. If you’ve got any other great ideas, like a ‘Poosday-Tuesday’ when all come to school in manure brown, then please let us know!

  1. Make an African plastic bag football

    Hold an 'African Footy' tournament!

Make an African plastic bag football

These sheets give step-by-step instructions to help your pupils make these ‘recycled’ footballs - just like thousands of children in African countries. It’s a great activity to link to a recycling project and can be used to discuss the uses of waste materials in the UK - it’s also a really fun thing to do with your class!

  2. Make an African Lenten Tree

Build up an acacia tree over Lent and learn about life in Africa

    Make an African Lenten Tree

A great resource for Lent, these sheets help make a fantastic Lenten Tree (like a Jesse Tree) that will create a colourful wall display. During Lent, your children will learn about life in African countries as illustrations are added to the acacia tree, and be encouraged to do something different at home or school (such as helping with the washing up at home or walking to school). At the same time, why not invite pupils to help children in families that are less fortunate? By raising £40 or more, your class can provide a ‘Farmer Starter Kit’ to an African farming family.

The file sizes are quite large, so please be patient.

  5. Send a Cow charity gift catalogue

Donate to our work in a tangible way

Send a Cow charity gift catalogue

Our online charity gifts shop is a great way for you to solve present buying issues and help families in Africa! It’s where you can donate towards our work through buying alternative gifts - from cows and goats, to keyhole gardens and magic muck! Children also respond really well to virtual gifts and many teachers have asked pupils not to buy them candles and cuddly toys at the end of term, but to buy a Send a Cow gift instead. So, why not view our gifts shop now.

  7. Follow a family out of poverty

Become a Family Friend at your school

Follow a family out of poverty

‘Family Friend’ is a fantastic way to bring the real lives of an African family right into your classroom or staffroom! By giving a minimum of £10 a month, you can become a Family Friend and share a family’s journey out of poverty. We will send you regular updates, letting you know what is happening with the family that we are featuring, learning more about the country of your choice, and seeing the incredible effect that your money has for the family, and others like them. You might find it easier to club together with other staff or classes to do this, and then you can also share the experience together. You can chose to follow a Family in one of three countries - Uganda, Rwanda or Ethiopia.
Find out more about ‘Family Friend’, or call us to ask us about it.
