The story of an 18 year old genocide survivor from Rwanda.
Janvier’s story focuses on the importance of the manure from his cow and the bumper harvest of vegetables that comes from his healthy soils. He lives with his brothers and sisters as an orphan headed household.
Small gardens, ideal for small hands
Bag Gardens are a type of African garden that Send a Cow teaches families how to make in Africa. They are also a great way to get your pupils involved in a growing project, learning about healthy eating and life in an African country - with plenty of related resources and images to help you. These mini-gardens make the most of soil, compost and waste water, are easy to weed and can be grown in schools. Use the link below to find out more - and order a Bag Garden Starter Kit for £12, or call us on 01225 874222.
Questions and pictures exploring life in Lesotho
This Powerpoint invites pupils to look at similarities and differences between their lives and that of Karabo from Lesotho. These slides show several pictures from her everyday life, including her home, school and doing jobs and a series of questions are posed to get children thinking. This resource can act as a good starting point for discussion and is linked to other resources about Karabo’s life. For more information for Welsh schools wanting to partner with a Lesothan school, visit the Dolen Cymru website.

Fun for kids and great for books
These bookmarks are designed for kids to colour in. They feature five different aspects of Send a Cow’s work and could be used for your class, group or event - with the obvious benefit of encouraging them to read more! They are also printed on recycled paper, which is easier to colour on. So, help your children find out about our work and prompt them to read, by ordering some for free using the Order and sign up page.
Order some stickers for your kids
We have four different types of sticker sheets that you can order for your class, group or event if you are supporting Send a Cow in some way. They have been tested on kids… and they love them!
The ‘T1’ sheet has enough stickers for a class of 30.
The ‘T2’ is reward sheet with fun graphics such as ‘eggcellent work’.
The ‘K1’ sheet has small and large round stickers - good for groups.
And the ‘K2’ sheet is our cool Cowforce sheet with lots of different designs on it.
You can order several of these sheets and other materials for free, using the Order and sign up page.

As well as Cabbages and Cowpats, we also have some free DVDs that are suitable for older pupils or to help enthuse staff about Send a Cow’s work. There are two to choose from: Harvests in Uganda, how people, land and animals live in harmony and our Lesotho & Ethiopia DVD, highlighting different approaches, like keyhole gardens, used when working in upland areas. Call us for a copy of these DVDs on (01225) 874222.
