This video, mainly from Uganda, introduces how cows can help - click play to view. This video is hosted on Vimeo, if you have restricted access to this site (as is the case in some Primary schools) you will not be able to view this video online. Build an African Farmyard - ideal for Harvest
Learn and fundraise in this exciting art project

‘Build an African Farmyard’ is a fundraising and learning resource that’s all about creating a fantastic wall display of an East African farm (it’s perfect for a Harvest topic, but also great all year round). We provide you with the information, ideas and illustrations of the elements on the farm to photocopy, colour in and add textiles to… and your class learn, have fun and raise money - simple!

Four African tales - animations
Fun animations that help to explain our work

These delightful, short animations, called ‘Four African Tales’ give an easy to follow explanation of some of Send a Cow’s work in Africa. They are ideal for use in an assembly and on an interactive whiteboard and they’re created to educate and bring a smile to children’s faces as they find out how we go about helping poor families get out of poverty.

You can order this poster using the Order & sign-up page. It is for use in schools, groups, churches or wherever you want people to find out about Send a Cow’s work. The poster includes illustrated examples of how we work and has a map of Africa showing the countries that we work in.

Colouring in Cowpower sheet
Something for younger children about Send a Cow

If you are supporting Send a Cow in some way, or running an event, this sheet will give children something fun to colour in and take home. It is taken from the CowPower animation and very simply sums up how a cow can help a family in Africa. A PowerPoint file of the animation is included too.

DVDs - older pupils & staff
Show a DVD to staff or use for discussion with KS4+

As well as Cabbages and Cowpats, we also have some free DVDs that are suitable for older pupils or to help enthuse staff about Send a Cow’s work. There are two to choose from: Harvests in Uganda, how people, land and animals live in harmony and our Lesotho & Ethiopia DVD, highlighting different approaches, like keyhole gardens, used when working in upland areas. Explains how cows can help - in a fun way!

This fun animation from Cowforce.com neatly sums up how a cow can help a poor family. Really useful for an assembly and as an introduction to our work - guaranteed to have your pupils smiling. Turn your sound up to enhance the experience. We have supplied an exe file for PC that opens straight up (over 2MB) or Quicktime files that are smaller and a Welsh option is included here. There is also a Powerpoint file, to allow you to go at your own pace. Have fun!

Tips on using images
How to make the most of our free photographs

Using images to introduce stories or compare thoughts about Africa can be extremely useful. This document gives some ideas of how to make the most of them. Use our online gallery to see the free selection of photographs from African countries and our projects. The photographs can be printed and used to help pupils collect information about a place through close observation. The link below will take you there.
