Cane rats in conservation
Fun ratty lesson and fundraising ideas

You can have lots of fun with this ratty lesson! Cane Rats help to put an end to the hunting of bushmeat in the rainforests of Cameroon by giving families a source of protein and income - removing the need to hunt endangered species such as gorillas and monkeys. The link to the great little animation below can be used to explain the issues involved. The pdf file also includes some interesting fundraising activities if your class want to raise money for our projects, which include Cane Rats in Cameroon.

Africa day
A whole day learning about and celebrating Africa

A day’s worth of fun activities and ideas for inside and outside the classroom. An Africa day can bring the Global Dimension to the whole school or a whole key stage - educating your pupils about life in different countries. Ideas for Geogrpahy Unit 22 (Passport to the world) are included. Why not book one of our free speakers to come to your school too? Have fun!

Find out more about Africa and Send a Cow - book now!

If you would like to find out more about our work and help pupils learn about life in African countries, why not book a speaker to come and give a talk? We have ‘Ambassadors’ around the country who speak about Send a Cow - many of them have first-hand experience of our projects. They often use Powerpoint slides, DVDs and visual props, and are a great way of bringing our work to life in an assembly, workshop or lesson. So, to add to pupils’ learning or help with fundraising, call our bookings secretary, Jodie Sampson on (01531) 821751, or email Alternatively, download and print out the speaker booking form below.

Follow a family out of poverty
Become a Family Friend at your school

‘Family Friend’ is a fantastic way to bring the real lives of an African family right into your classroom or staffroom! By giving a minimum of £10 a month, you can become a Family Friend and share a family’s journey out of poverty. We will send you regular updates, letting you know what is happening with the family that we are featuring, learning more about the country of your choice, and seeing the incredible effect that your money has for the family, and others like them. You might find it easier to club together with other staff or classes to do this, and then you can also share the experience together. You can chose to follow a Family in one of three countries - Uganda, Rwanda or Ethiopia.
Find out more about ‘Family Friend’, or call us to ask us about it. -
